A DESIGN HISTORY

I was fortunate enough to be gifted at a young age, the great influence of grand design houses such as Liberty, Colefax & Fowler, Zoffany, Turnell & Gigon, Sanderson et al thanks to my grandmother who had exceptional style and taste, and my mother who worked for Laura Ashley in Machynlleth in the 1980s.

The original Laura Ashley factory and first ever shop were in the market town of Machynlleth where India Greene is based today. In fact, we are just a couple of doors away from the original (first ever) early 1960s Laura Ashley shop.

Being afforded the opportunity to explore a passion and interest in interiors early on, paved the way for a creative career. I firstly trained as an Interior Designer with The Regent Academy of Fine Arts, the National Design Academy and KLC before working for an interior designer and decorator in Oxfordshire. I then became a buyer within the purchasing department of Fired Earth (an AGA owned interiors company) before moving to And So To Bed as part of their sales team, and as a showroom stylist and floral arranger.

A change of career later on led me to train as a florist with the renowned Jane Packer in London, working in Oxfordshire and London before opening a studio in Cambridgeshire.

I then had the good fortune of travelling around the world, exploring interior design, decoration and floristry in many different countries.

India Greene is an interior decorating, styling and lifestyle company located within the grade II listed building of the Dyfi Roastery, a specialty coffee shop and nano roastery, nestled in a UNESCO biosphere between the foothills of Snowdonia and the Irish Sea.

Inspiration comes far and wide from our global travels and early influences. Early design houses such as Laura Ashley, Fired Earth, Grand Illusions, Liberty, Colefax & Fowler, Jane Churchill, Sanderson, Zoffany, Malabar, Farrow & Ball, Osborne & Little, Titley & Marr, Bennison Fabrics, Ian Mankin, Mulberry Home, Little Greene, Nina Campbell, William Yeoward, Ralph Lauren, Rita Konig, Lombok, Cabbages & Roses et al inspire and broaden creativity.

Both the British countryside and coastal living are also fundamental sources of creativity and vision.

With an eclectic collection (and in 2021 many new lines) of interiors, clothing and accessories including furniture, rugs, throws, cushions, pictures, mirrors, frames and our French and Moroccan market baskets, India Greene is the perfect place to browse whilst enjoying Dyfi Roastery's specialty coffees, teas, hot chocolates (made with chunks of delicious melted chocolate), superfood lattes and delicious cakes.

Pop in and say hello. Or for those who are unable to make it in just yet, we will be adding many new lines to our online store. You can even drop us a line and add to your coffee order, or vice versa. We'll dispatch in one go to save on postage.

We look forward to seeing or hearing from you soon.
